Tutorials REALLY WORK. Candidates with a prior exam experience have about a 70% pass rate (or less) the next time they take the exam without Odyssey preparation. AFTER preparing with Odyssey, candidates with prior board attempts have a 94+% pass rate (p<0.001)
What is a Tutorial? A Tutorial is one-on-one practice with the surgeon who has the most experience doing board prep in the country. You work exclusively with Dr. Argy, who dedicates his 14 years of experience teaching over 3,200 surgeons to help you do everything you need to successfully take your orals.
Who should take a Tutorial? A Tutorial is especially effective if you:
- have not passed a previous exam
- want/need to improve your confidence
- want to improve your presentation skills under pressure
- want personalized attention to assess and improve those skills
- prefer individualized attention without a group setting
- want intensive preparation in a short period of time
- wish to have individual content reviews on specific exam topics
What is covered in a Tutorial? A Tutorial can cover whatever you need -- presentation skills, specific content, different formats of questions, various behaviors and questioning that examiners typically use, analysis of prior exam experiences in detail.
Where does a Tutorial take place? A Tutorial typically takes place in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, at Dr. Argy's home, which is close to Providence, Rhode Island, and Boston, Massachusetts. Doing the Tutorial in Dartmouth includes a $300 discount compared to doing it in Boston. You, the candidate, determine the location of the Tutorial.
What is the duration of a Tutorial? Most candidates choose to do a one day Tutorial (7 hours) but it can be shorter, or longer, depending on your preferences.
What is the tuition for a Tutorial? The price of a Tutorial is based on what a surgeon can make operating for a day, e.g. doing 4 or 5 lap choles. It also depends on the geographical location (there is a discount for doing the Tutorial at Dr. Argy's home in Dartmouth, Massachusetts,) the duration of the Tutorial (half day, full day, several days) and whether it is on a weekday or weekend. Please call Dr. Argy for details.
