Tutorials REALLY WORK. Candidates with a prior exam experience, in the writtens or the orals, have about a 50-55% pass rate (or less) the next time they take the exam without Odyssey preparation. (Remember, the baseline pass rate is 77%.) With Odyssey's focused preparation, your pass rate goes into the 90s.
What is a Tutorial?
A Tutorial is one-on-one practice with the surgeon who has the most experience doing board prep in the country. You work exclusively with Dr. Argy, who dedicates his 15 years of experience in surgical education with over 3,500 surgeons to prepare you optimally for your board exam.
Who should take a Tutorial? A Tutorial is especially effective if you:
- have not passed a previous exam
- want/need to improve your confidence
- want to improve your test-taking and presentation skills under pressure
- want personalized attention to assess weaknesses and strengths
- prefer individualized attention without a group setting
- want intensive preparation in a short period of time
- wish to have individual content reviews on specific exam topics
What is covered in a Tutorial? A Tutorial can cover whatever you need -- presentation skills, specific content, different formats of questions, targeted methods of studying and practicing.
Where does a Tutorial take place? A Tutorial typically takes place in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, at Dr. Argy's home, which is close to Providence, Rhode Island, and Boston, Massachusetts. Doing the Tutorial in Dartmouth includes a $300 discount compared to doing it in Boston. You, the candidate, determine the location of the Tutorial. A Tutorial can also take place nearly as effectively with a high quality Video Teleconference on your computer. (Click here to learn more about technical requirements for doing a Video Teleconference.)
What is the duration of a Tutorial? Most candidates choose to do a one day Tutorial (7 hours) but it can be shorter, or longer, depending on your preferences and needs.
What is the tuition for a Tutorial? The price of a Tutorial is based on what a surgeon can make operating for a day, e.g. doing 4 or 5 lap choles. It also depends on the geographical location (there is a discount for doing the Tutorial at Dr. Argy's home in Dartmouth, Massachusetts,) the duration of the Tutorial (half day, full day, several days) and whether it is on a weekday or weekend. Please call Dr. Argy for details.
